I dont really like this move all that much being a yankee fan. They rediculously overpaid for him. He is not worth 52 million over 4 years by any means. His outfield defense was slipping last year in Boston and frankly I doubt he could throw out the trash on trash night with that arm of his.
On the offensive side He is the perfect leadoff hitter, this way it pushes everyone down a spot for the Yanks
Damon
Jeter
Arod
Sheffield
Giambi
Matsui
Posada
Cano
and Crosby for now in the 9 hole.
Absolutely scary for an opposing pitcher
Anyways I feel that we are just going to be seeing a newer version of bernie, with Damon's level of play dropping steadily for the next couple of years til we are dreading him playing every day in Center.
Oh yea a rumor has already been heard about Williams going to Boston to replace Damon :eek3:

so what's the payroll up to now?
The Yankees don't learn, they can have all the power in the world ... but if your pitching sucks, you're done.
They also have a tendency to give players on the decline huge contracts *cough*Johnson*cough*
