When driving a manual which is better to do when you're slowing down? Shifting down or throwing it into Neutral and braking? I heard shifting down is harder on the tranny while putting it in neutral and braking is harder on the brakes. Which is the best to do though?
Brakes are cheaper than the engine.
Also when I park on an incline where the top of my car is pointed upwards should I put the E-brake on ALONG with putting it in first gear?
I always put on the e-brake. Just to be sure, I guess.
Also, (I drive a 94) what is the BEST RPM to shift at? I've heard everything from 2-4.
Depends who you ask and what you're trying to do. I used to shift at around 7-8k, and not to be cool, but because that would result in the fastest acceleration and the most fun. It's why I got the car. However, chances are if you ask your grandma she will say that 2k is the best.
