I really don't understand teachers sometimes...
Just a totally random thought that just popped into my head after sitting thru final presentations in my 201 Tv Studio class.
Why do teachers always put people down? Always tellng them it's tough to get a job after college. And they are always to unhelpful, well all the ones i typically have. They are like on power trips and try and imtimidate you. Sure i've had some great teachers in the past that are nothing but knowledgable, helpful, and fun to go to their classes. But recently i have been noticing all these teachers are just miserable or something.
They are teachers and you are paying their salarys, the least they could do is encourage and make your college years fun, enjoyable, and meaningful.
I don't know. Just pisses me off, maybe they never made it to where they wanted and ended up having to be a teacher? I dunno. But its pissing me off.

Their job is not to make your experience fun or enjoyable. It is to teach you. And of course every teacher has their own teaching styles. You just have to adapt and work with it. Some student will react better to a teacher who is more aggressive. Some wont. They cant cater to everyone.
Or they could just be a bad teach :dunno:

If you are going to school for broadcast or film, the teacher was certainly giving it to you straight. Most of the time you are going to find that people in that world dont give a shit if you even went to school. They want experience and it is truly who you know. The knowledge is important obviously but will get you nowhere by itself. Keep in mind that even if you get the in, dont take a job that you arent exteremly proficient in and as far as the technical aspect of TV, expect to un-learn about 3/4 of what they taught you in school. Good advice....get an internship. Period. The work for free will take you much further than gripping or being a utility. Also, most engineers are very grumpy, go through others to the EIC until you are better known. =)
