Default Help a fellow car guy out...

Alright... so I'm doing my persuasive speech for my comm 107 class here at UMD. :ghey: However.... I'm doing it on why manual transmission cars are better than automatics. I need 4 sources, I've already got one that shows gas mileage. I'm trying to incorporate the fact that you can have more control over the car in emergancy situations, the better gas mileage and the fact that its just more fun. If anyone knows of some good websites for any of those ideas i could use as a souce... please post Thanks Guys... any help is appreciated cause i'm pullin an all nighter as it is.... h:

I don't know of websites. Um, one for control issue. You can state that in a slippery snow covered surface manuals allow you to start in 2nd gear.*

*D-series Civics not apply

There was an article on thetruthaboutcars.com website a while back.

Although I would say with SMG and the DSG automatics coming out now, your argument might not be so convincing anymore :happysad:

Then mentioning it as a PRO for the manual kinda dont make sense if an automatic can do the same hfawk:

automatics are getting more and more advanced everyday, locking torque converters are a big step forward, and the ability for a engine to push more torque out as the wheels spin up is a major plus for autos

honestly, nowadays slushboxes are quite better for the average person than a manual transmission

I have to agree. I don't think any race series (except NASCAR hfawk uses a true manual anymore. I think some of the SMGs used in Formula 1 are advanced enough where they can be programmed to shift most effectively for a given course.
