I know half a dozen people who bought cars in Michigan...
Your currency also fluctuates by the day and sometimes by the hour. I used to do currency exchange rates for billings on my boss' credit card and everytime he went to Canada it was an interesting experience. depending on the day and time his card was used the currency exchange was different as much as 5 cents and as little as 0.01 cents.

S2000 = 32k USD/49k CDN MSRP = yet the conversion of 32k US is only 37k CDN, so 12K more

E46 M3 = 49k USD/75k CDN MSRP = conversion of 49k US is 56k or so US, so 19k more

I was at Infiniti earlier looking at a 06' G35C and it came out to 60k CDN, roughly 51k USD! An 05' S2 is roughly 50k USD!

These prices are before our insane 15% tax rates! h:

oh wait, we get the Acura EL/CSX and they won't let the Evolution in because of unsafe bumper regulations.

how about australia? back in 2001 E46 M3 cost 64K USD base model. In the US it was 46K USD base model.

so quit your bitching

Import it yourself you can save about 4-5 grand. A friend of mine in Toronto has imported his S2000 because he couldn't get the color he wanted. You have to have any warranty work done in the US and you have to have the DRL's. You also need a recall letter. But by the time you get done with the taxes and importation charges it's still 4-5 grand less.

well there is tarriff on just about everything that is brought in from outside the country. even in the USA, unless it qualifies under NAFTA.

but the canadians don't have it so bad. E46 M3 in Taiwan costs over 100K USD. 100% tariff there :chuckles: I believe same for HK.

I understand prices differ around the world, but we're your neighbors whereas Australia is down, under and to the right by thousands of miles of ocean. What i'm saying is a BMW dealership in Niagara Falls, USA could be selling an M3 for 49k US and then 10 miles over the border, in Canada the same thing will be selling for 79k CDN (give or take few K). Of course BMW does not have dealerships but you understand my point.

I'm guessing the US sells a lot more and therefore can have a lower prices on the majority of cars.

Yes, it's 100K USD in HK because of the 50% luxury tax of sorts, but they have no taxes on other things. Hmm, what about South Korea?
