Default what to use to clean pistons?

I want to sell some trw pistons I have from 454. They have some carbon deposit on them. How do I clean it off? Do I use sand paper or is it bad to do? Any compound I can buy?

I've used it before with no problems. Just don't gouge the fuck out of the piston top.

soaked in a home made parts tank...get some mineral spirits and a bucket...let them soak for a while and then with a stiff brissle NON metal brush scrub the carbon off, followed by another soak and the final shit will come off with a toothbrush and some towels...it takes a bit longer than the hot tank but works wonders.

A wire brush is going to leave a coarse surface for crap to stick too. Use degreaser and a nylon brush I would say. I've never done it, but maybe even use metal polish on the tops to make 'em real smooth so stuff won't stick to 'em.
