I sent them a message talling them how much I like the show and how I hope they keep it in Discovery Channel's line up. But I guess since it will be back in December I didn't need to.

It's not going to come back with a "more American flavor." All of the Top Gear's we've been watching (and loving!) on Discovery were original Top Gear episodes out of Europe, modified for American audiences by adding some more content; So in other words, we're going to get the same exact thing as we already had.
The reason why (it seems) Discovery "took it off the air" is because they ran out of episodes that have been modified for American content, and they've been making new ones as the new European episodes of Top Gear are created, after they get enough shows to do a full pattern/rotation for the season, they'll come back on the air.
Bottom line, we've been watching "Americanized Top Gear" since it first started here on Discovery Channel, so we won't be getting anything different -- it just takes them time to make the shows in the first place.
Thank God it's coming back though, I was getting pissed that I finally got DVR and wasn't able to record Top Gear!
