why are chopsticks

called "chopsticks"?? they dont chop anything
why dont people call them dingleberries instead? or nunchucks?

Because they would take wooden sticks and chop them... Or get branches and chop them off the tree?

The english adopted name "chopsticks" came from Chinese immigrants in the 1800's. To them chop meant quick, so therefore the name chopsticks was formed.

not exactly.

"chopstick" is a pidgin-English term, where "chop" is the pidgin-English word for "quick".. so basically, "quick sticks". the chinese word for chopsticks has a similar meaning, but the chinese words don't sound anything like that - same with korean and japanese.
