when i try to run the command program (cmd.exe) in XP SP2 it will open the window and just hang at a blank canvas. no prompt, keyboard input doesn't display anything...then when i got to close the window, i get a "Program Not Responding Error"

bleh. can you find the command prompt executable in the windows directory if you look for it manually?

have you tried reformatting?

try running "command.com" instead

 

if for some reason your command.exe file is gone, i can send you mine.

 

cmd.exe -> XP command Prompt

command.com -> Dos command prompt

 

i know.

 

theres still a command.com in windows xp, just run command.com at the run line.

if you absoulotely need to run something right now i'd suggest that till you can fix it later
