Default NBA Dress Code

What are everyones opinions on it? Have you heard about it, Evidently on Monday they put out a press release stating that

Players will no longer be able to wear:
Sleveless shirts
Shorts
T-shirts
Chains, pendants, or medallions worn over the player's clothes
Sunglasses while indoors
Headphones (other than on the team bus or plane, or in the team locker room)
Also jerseys and baseball caps will no longer be acceptable attire for postgame press conference.

Players will be required to wear business-casual attire when involved in team or league business. They can't wear visible chains, pendants or medallions over their clothes.

seems like a really stupid rule to me and just makes the league look that much more fake

They need to dress the league up. Reporters are calling it a "hip hop" culture which the players grew up with ... but this "hip hop" culture is also being copied by drug dealers and gang members.

Why not create an NBA culture? These are world class athletes, they don't need other cultures to influence who they are ... they are the trend.

You must be an Allen Iverson fan or read his statement on it being "fake". LOL

But I agree with you, I think it's stupid.

that's really stupid.

The WWE established one for their wrestlers a while back, as well.

I can understand wanting players to be dressed up on the bench and so forth but i think forcing them to dressup to walk to a bus or not wear headphones/jewelery on the walk to a bus or their car after a game is rediculous.

I dont normally agree with Stephen Jackson but he said something about the fact that there are criminals who wear suits everyday too.

Just because someone is wearing a throwback doesnt make them bad and just because someone is wearing a suit makes them a saint

I have no problem with it.

I think if anything it might influence the youth to trade in thier gaudy chains for a nice shirt or something.

But I don't know. Millions of people will probably whine about it like little bitches

That's like saying even though you're (enter religion or nationality here), why don't you change and become (enter other religion or nationality here).

Alot of these NBA players grew up among those gang bangers and drug dealers, that's what they know. NBA culture? WTF? Hip hop is not something you do, it's something you are, and no amount of money can change that.

The whining isn't about the clothes, it's about the motivation behind the rule that's the main issue. Stern thinks the NBA is "too black" and wants to whiten it up a bit, and since skillful white players are in short supply, making the black guys dress white is the best he can do about that.

the NBA is a business.

I can't walk into my board room in my street clothes can I?

These people are grossly overpaid and made into heroes. The least they can do is dress up.
