what the hell?
so im gonna make this as basic as possible.
we had the neighbor - who is a contractor by trade - come over and help us tie up some of the final loose ends for the bathroom/kitchen projects. normally he's been really cool and all and even though we pay him, its been fairly casual.
so we have him come pull the plumbing (that he installed) through the floor for our bathtub. he fucked up and only made it long enough that the tub will sit on the bare subfloor and have the pipes reach. when Holly reminded him that there would be another ~3/4 of an inch of flooring under the tub and the pipes wouldnt reach, he threw a tantrum and hung the phone up on her. he's acting as if its our fault when as far as im concerned, this is his f-up and he is obligated to fix it. now any contractor worth salt would have realized that the pipe would need to be slightly longer to adjust for flooring. it SHOULD go without saying.
anyway we havent talked to him in a few days and last nite, we get home and there is a bill on the door. he has done work for us 2 times before and not given us a formal bill.
it kinda gave us the idea he isnt coming back. but the job isnt finished
anybody else get that idea based on what i've posted?
and i said we shouldnt pay him til he fixed his f-up.

Sounds like he isn't gonna finish the work. He is probably to stubborn to admit he fucked up. Take pictures to document it incase he takes you to small claims court for not paying.
sucks that he's the neighbor, if it isnt bad enough to have a bad relationship with a contractor, he lives right next door. we have to live there, i dont want this to get any uglier that it has to
whats he got his panties all in a wad for?
i mean why was he so pissed... just because he fucked up? couldnt he just fix his mistake? yeah it would take him more time but it seems like it would be in his best interest to just fix it and get paid rather than leave it half assed and probably not get paid. plus, im guessing you wont be calling him to help you out anymore so in essence he lost some potential future business by being an ass.
people.

Well since he is your neighbor, make your best attempt at resolving this amicably. Call him and say that you'd gladly pay for the work if he were to come over and finish the job he started. He completes the job, you pay, no harm no foul. The end.
