North Face is the best. LL Bean makes a great barn jacket, Columbia makes quality jackets, and Eddie Bauer makes pretty good jackets. I've got a hard core Eddie Bauer Down jacket, it keeps me so warm but its pretty puffy.

north face is up there but some of the REI gear is getting really nice as well, and cheaper than north face usually. patagonia shit (and some north face) is way overpriced imo but it is nice. but ive been in some situations where i was really glad i didnt skimp on the nice gear i bought, and other situations where i was kicking myself for not spending a little extra money for the nicer stuff.
