Default Silly Question

Let's say someone bought a Subaru WRX, non STI for the purposes of keeping insurance costs down.

Q: Can he have STI parts installed on the car to up the performance a little without voiding the warranty.

I've wondered about this before but never really pursued it.

depends on the part. Suspension parts? probably. Engine mods? probably not.

you would void the factory warranty on non STi parts you put on the car. I'm not sure what STi engine parts are available for regular WRX but probably nothing major.

So buying stuff from the dealer he bought the car from, should, work out.

Of course he would ask the dealer all those questions too.

sure hehe but I know in the BMW world. if the dealer doesn't install it, then no warranty on the replaced part.

Certain STi parts were available as options for the WRX, like the exhaust, the suspension, and short shifter, but I think that's it.
