Default Yep I did it

and I am proud of my work

I ws driving Ryans truck..err mostly truck on the rocks this weekend and broke a 4340 chromoly inner on his Toyota h:

It was pretty funny because it wasn't on anything really all that difficult and suddenly we heard this loud pop. We thought it was just the locker at first then we noticed the drivers wheel wasn't grabbing at all so we thought it was a Birfield which is an easy fix. So we tore it apart and found the carnage above.

Had it swapped out and was wheeling again in about 45 minutes. What a fun weekend this was

Yeah I am most proud of the fact that everyone claims this particular axle is "virtually unbreakable" and up until Saturday nobody had ever heard or seen one break.

I was going up a rock wall...nothing real major just starting a 20 foot climb over a bunch of rocks.

I love stuff like that. I really liked the rod bearing that came out of my old dirtbike when the bottom end let go...was twisted up like a pretzel.

Hahaha nice.

Today we went up and not 5 minutes after we pulled in another buddy of ours was back on a line picking up cones and rolled over in what was a clean bodied 4runner when he showed up on Friday. Crushed the cab on the passenger side completely destroying the roof and window. The passenger was laughing his ass off when we got down there.

Looks like we are having a sawzall party on that rig soon.

Yeah, I think the sawzall is quite possibly my favorite tool ever.

Check out this carnage:

Fried piston, with pieces of bearing embedded in the top...notice the scoring on the piston skirt:

Mangled bearing on the rod:

And the money shot...twisted bearing:

That piece of the bearing came out of the gear oil.
