Default Transmission crack

I have a small-medium sized crack in the bottom of my b-series transmission casing. It drips oil just like this drip..drip..drip..drip. I put GOBS of J.B. weld all over that sucker, when it was dry of course. Do you guys think that the J.B. will hold and not let tranny fluid leak out? I'm not quite certain if the transmission flexes or builds extra heat during prolonged use, maybe causing the weld to open up and leak again. It says it can withstand a constant temperature of 500 degrees. Do you think the transmission gets this hot? I don't think it ever would, unless i'm driving at a track doing 100mph all the time, but was wondering what anyone thought about this... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Turn the transmission over so the hole is on the top. Then it won't drip out.

Well if you know you have a hole in your tranny I wouldnt recommend traveling at 100mph especially with it leaking
I dont know about soldering so i cant say whether or not it will withstand.

Yank it and weld it up or even better just replace it all together. Problems like that don't just go away.

It's a pretty small crack, and it's on the bottom of the transmission, near the side closes to the passenger tire. I think the jb compound should hold, given that the transmission doesn't get too hot, and doesn't flex a hell of alot. I just bought this engine (1st gen b16, complete changeover), from hmotors, but am not sure if the transmission was damaged in shipping, or if me and my buds damaged it while installing :dunno:. Either way, i'm not sure if hmotors covers this damage.

It's actually a small crack, not even close to being a hole. I think it's only big enough to stick a thin needle into.

i would concider the JB a temporary fix & begin to search for a replacment so that you don't run into any serious probs down the road.. or at least have the replacment sitting there so that when it does finally puke, you'll already have everything u need to fix the problem.
