Default project colt [videos]

Okay, it's official. I have the keys and titles to 2 cars now that will soon become one. This is going to be really craptacular. I'm a little bored waiting for the girl to get off work so I thought I'd share...

Basically, I'm taking the engine/radiator/tranny/ECU/brakes/wiring harness/stereo out of this car...

and putting them in this $300 car...

There will be plenty more updates to the following web page for anyone that's interested in seeing the cheapest-bastard excuse for a 12 second car getting built. I just uploaded some non-cell-phone pics of the project cars HERE.

or here...

http://homepage.mac.com/jafro/PhotoAlbum45.html

Probably installing BMW HID's, 5-lug conversion, and maybe the turbo from my hefty 3355lb GSX which ran a 12.67@108.8 on pump gas. I might just leave the stock 14b on there to see what kind of traction issues I'll have first because the donor already pulls like a bat out of hell and breaks traction for 3500 RPMs in 1st... but if I upgrade it, I'll be selling the 14b, a CX manifold, and a set of 450cc DSM injectors to some lucky DIY'er dirt cheap.

Slight differences between the two...

1.5L SOHC NA 60hp/67tq

2.0L DOHC Turbo 210hp/209tq

I picked the donor up last weekend for a song, and it's the perfect donor candidate because everything aside from what I need is shot, but it's got it where it counts and it got me home from Rockville MD. No way could I afford to make it pass inspection, though. I'll probably videotape the car getting crushed.

FWD. I don't really feel like building the sub-frame for AWD into the colt... but I've got a 3-bolt donor out of a Galant VR-4 in case I ever get a wild hair.

If you break 300whp in a colt, you sort-of have to or you'll never go any faster. There are some others that have done it.

OMG! semi-recent AWD news. The legendary lilevo wrecked and he's not fixing it. He's got the story and the video of the wreck on his site.

I'm intrigued. Any good resources for the AWD conversion? h:
EDIT: Nevermind. lilevo.com is quite impressive.

UPDATE:

All the planets alligned correctly on Thurday night when I got off of work, my GF went out of town, and I had a change of clothes with me... so I went up to my counsin's shop and pulled the engine out of the Colt.

I got there about 5:50 PM and had the shop cleaned, tools wiped down and put away, lights and compressors off, alarm set and out by 9:00 PM. It took me under 2 hours to gut it by myself. I know this because I set up a camera to record the whole thing and it all fit on one video tape.

Anyway, just thought I'd post an update. If you want to see it, I made a 3 minute long fast-motion video of the whole process at:

http://homepage.mac.com/jafro/iMovieTheater47.html

I'll probably do the same thing with the Laser when I strip it, but I'm sure it will take longer because I have to bag and mark everything.

Enjoy!
