What car would you get for under $6,000 to do a 120 mile round trip commute?

If she moved here she would be in the same situation that I am in. Only thing that would be worse for her is that she goes to school and work so with an hour plus commute added at the beginning and end of the day we'd be living together but I'd never see her.

A mid-90's 626 four cylinder fits the bill and is super-cheap now. My mother bought one new in '96, and 200k miles later, it still averages 32-34mph in moderate traffic.

It's much more comfortable then a Civic, IMHO.

A word of warning, though: The A/C compressors don't work well below 1500RPM.

That'll be a few years down the road since she has grad school starting next year.
