I would've suggested the 8890 for a more professional looking phone, but the slider mechanism would probably be too much as it also affects the mic on the phone.

go and find a motorola timeport on ebay. The flip color one. Its not a true color lcd but it has some neon lcd colors

Like its a black background with bright green words and screens with orange ...icons in the top and blue clock if i remember. All it did was ring, it had a phone book, and a few other things but it was by the far the best damn phone i ever had. I actually just bought another of ebay to replace my camera phone because its pissing me off. I kinda find a lot of the stuff on this phone useless.

I don't see the point of IM on a phone. Using the keypad to talk takes forever, the internet is slow so you dont' get quiet a full story without flipping through 4 pages to hear about news and...i dunno. I think its neat what they can do but i don't think they are quiet ready for all that stuff. Let alone the stupid tv stations you can receive on some via broadband. Thats a little overboard.

Sprint sucks. They have huge charges for everything.

I don't quite understand the purpose of IM on a phone, I thought that talking was the ultimate IM. :hsdunno:

In our area I would highly recommend Verizon. Their coverage and signal is way, way better than anyone else.

Through them I have the Samsung A650 phone, which has absolutely no bells/whistles/etc. Its fanciest feature is the color screen. I think it's recently been taken off the sales floor in Verizon stores but if you ask I think you should still be able to get one.

Can't get verizon's signal in my house...errr concrete bunker. My son has to go outside to use his phone. So cingular is out too. Sprint can't penetrate either. If they can't get a signal through my concrete walls that are covered with stone I don't see them serving any purpose.

How often would you really be using your cell in the house? I get intermittant signal in my parents' house, but it's enough that if I get a call I know it and can call them back from a land line.

The whole purpose to me would be to get rid of my phone.
