Why didn't he just close his little window? Most or all cabs have a plexiglass divider between the backseat and the front seats.

You know, to prevent passengers from ditching without paying?
If so, how did this woman get out of the cab?

Was there a partition to protect the driver?

I agree, the cabbie ought to have exited off the highway if possible, but if that girl was wailing on the back of his head, what can you expect him to do?

I don't know if she deserved to get run over... but she sure as hell didn't need to start assulting a cab driver in a drunken fit.

i doubt it on the door lock thing. seems too dangerous. in case of accident and the such, also thats probably illegal for non-police types.

and the partiton. only in real big cities. i have never seen a cab with one actually.

I could swear that the cabs in SF are equipped w/ them. h: It would be easy enough to tie into the SRS circuit, so if the airbags or a g-sensor goes off, the doors unlock. :dunno:

At any rate, it's unfortunate that she stepped out onto I-15 and got mulched, but given the circumstances and what I've read, I don't think the driver was negligent.
