cant you just use wmp to do it? cause whenever i try to rip them with it, it saves them as .wmv's.. which sucks.

I have the full version of winamp and I can set it to rip them as .mp3, maybe your version doesn't have that option?

go here http://etplanet.com/download/audio_video_tools.shtm and look for Microsoft MP3 Creation Pack for WinXP (198KB)... and see if that works

i use iTunes... it seems to work better than WMP for ripping.... though the greatest is still illustrates ripper (www.dbpoweramp.com) you might want to find an older version i think that the lame encoding runs out on teh newer ones because of a license disagreement
