I was just looking at some of the other toys I collect and decided to revisit this issue. The most posable transforming toy I have are the 1/48 scale Yamato Macross figures. As far as toys go, those are so much cooler than TFs, though they don't have as much variety.
we need to look at toys as something that evolves over time. G1 was the pioneer of it all. The story, the characters, the concept ... everything will improve over time as the wheel doesn't get reinvented, it gets refined.
Same goes true for anything ... computers, cars, etc.
I rag on G1 in 2005 .. but for 20 years old ... a huge following, and a booming reissue market? Takara did good.
