Because of piss poor planning and inconsistent price points ... the line was a complete failure.

I got 2 of those, and at least 2 of every e-hobby seeker and car autobot that was released.
Transformers Commemorative Series III
All prices are for MISB (mint in sealed box)
Series I and II were very successful. Takara's reissues were selling at a higher price point though. Hasbro tried to copy their Japanese couterpart by making the reissues "book style" and featuring the new Dreamwave productions comicbook art.
Was this a mistake? Only time would tell. With series II done, III made its way.

Jazz - $30 range - retailed @ $24.99
First thoughts ... "Hot Rod was only $17.99, now this is $7 more? I guess that's okay ... he's in a better box. Wait, why aren't his weapons chromed anymore?". Later down the road, Jazz turns out to be one of the harder to find reissues.

Silverstreak - $15 range - retailed @ $24.99
First thoughts ... "wait, the Japanese got Prowl. Where's Prowl?" Silverstreak never sold too well. It's completely unknown WHY Hasbro would release a repaint for a popluar character first ... but this is a sign of things to come.

Thundercracker - $25 range - reatailed @ $29.99
A solid reissue here ... it doesn't quite match the new reissues though. It has a newer style box and G1 art? Seems like something was rushed or completely half assed. The paint on the toy was top notch. It's a deeper blue with more metallic flake than the original.
