I'd skip it.

If I were you, I'd rather focus on select Cyberton figures, finding the G1 TRU reissues, and catching up with Alternators.

The Alternator line is, by far, the coolest I've ever seen. The G1's will only skyrocket in value from here on. Keeping an eye for select Cybertron figures always keeps you busy.

I think Hammy said he saw these for $2.99 ... the price isn't bad, and I'll have to make up my mind when I see them in person.

Oh, that's right ... Energon.

Energon can be found for rock bottom prices right now. There are some select figures that are really worth having too.

Optimus Prime
Megatron
Galvatron
Scorponok
Wing Saber
Grimlock and Swoop
Shockblast
Superion
Bruticus
Devastator
Downshift (aka Wheeljack)
Rodimus
Arcee

These can be found in "loose" (out of box) condition at a good price. Right now, everybody is ditching their Energon collection for the upcoming "Botcon" (yearly TF convention) and Cybertron lines. Low balling is at an all time high.

Finding these toys MISB can be difficult. People who kept them sealed are collectors who keep them for the long haul.

Walgreens dropped the line after series 2, so finding series 3,4, and 5 became rather difficult for 50% of the country.

The line stopped at series 5, but a new Legends of Cybertron were recently released.

The material should be a bit better, and the biggest difference between the old "Heroes" and new "Legends" line? Legends can transform.
I have those and love them. I had to get most of mine on eBay or from Meijer when visiting here before we moved. I also found a ton of them for sale at Disney World. In fact, Disney World had quite the selection of Transformers when I was there last year.

I picked up the 4 Legends of Cybertron that are out (Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Hot Shot) at lunch today.

Transformers Commemorative Series I
All prices are for MISB (mint in sealed box)

The 1st run of TRU reissues were nearly G1 accurate. The boxes went though some cosmetic upgrades, but maintained the G1 art.

For years, the Japanese market has seen reissues. This was the 1st time anything like this was attempted in the US. It also came out of nowhere, throwing collectors into a nostalgic hunting frenzy. These toys completely flew off the shelves and consumers wanted more.

Optimus Prime - $60 range - He originally sold for $40 and was a bitch to find out of the bunch. Optimus Prime was the most popular character in the TF series, so this was expected. (on a side note, I think Rick actually purchased 2 or 3 of these from Amazon.com back in the day)

Ultra Magnus - $60 range - He originally sold for $40, but was far less popular than Prime. This doesn't mean he didn't sell, but because he was a shelf warmer, finding one in a mint box because a bit difficult.

Rodimus Major - $20 range - He retailed at $17.99. Because he was the most affordable of the reissues, he sold quickly. Since a Takara Targetmaster Hot Rod can be purchased for $30-ish, this reissue doesn't pull a high price like the others.

Watch this auction if interested:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-MISB-TRANSFO...QQcmdZViewItem

but, you get a hell of a lot more with the Targetmaster set:

Remember, eBay has turned into a seller's market. Items listed on eBay command high premiums because the common TF shopper doesn't know where to find a deal.

 I remember seeing all of those on the shelf at TRU when they first came out. I wish I had bought them then.

Transformers Commemorative Series II
All prices are for MISB (mint in sealed box)

Series II hit the shelves about 2 months after Series I. By the time II was released, series I was completely sold out, never to be seen again. This really gave a feel of these toys being limited in quantity.

Starscream - $50 range - retailed @ $29.99
When this figure hit, the TF reissues were all the rage. Starscream, being the 1st Decepticon reissued, was always blown right off the shelf. His box was nearly G1 identical, and even the flap opened to display the entire window.

On a site note, Starscream was also released at Disney theme parks. The variation here? He had a mickey mouse symbol on his UPC.

Powermaster Optimus - $85 range - retailed @ $50
Everybody's inital reaction ... "Who the hell is Powermaster Optimus? I don't remember this guy. $50? Forget it." Powermaster Optimus Prime, aka God Ginrai, was featured in the japanese TF story "Masterforce". He was brought over there as one of the last true G1's around the time of the Headmaster series.

At the time, $50 was an all new high for reissues. He didn't sell to well, with most stores sitting on their initial shipment for months.

Now, Powermaster Optimus Prime is really difficult to find. Only collectors who knew who he was, actually purchased him at the time.
