I entertained going into the Airforce as an officer, but we only had an Enlisted rep in town. Claimed he was going to help me and show me to an Officer recruiter, but to make my first visit go smoothly, I could do some of the same pre-entrance tests and paperwork that Enlistees did (To give the recruiter a better idea of my case). I did everything the recruiter asked, but eventially I started wondering why it had taken 2 weeks and I hadn't gotten the promised Officer recruiter call yet. One day he said "Hey, let's get a physical assesment done so you have everything squared away"
So I replied, "Isn't the physical when you swear in?"
"Yeah, but don't worry, it doesn't mean anything"
"So, basically, I would be enlisting?"
"Kinda, but you wouldn't be stuck until you actually leave for boot camp. You can leave for any old reason..."
I took my papers and left his office. I don't need to be tricked into serving my country.
And the day after I left his office, I finally got a call from an officer recruiter
h: I told him my poor experience and that I would have to reevaluate my service in this poor light. Someday I may serve, especially if a draft rolls around, but that left a sour taste in my mouth...

The only time you have a good experience with a recruiter is when you want to join and he doesn't have to convince you otherwise. Recruiters know that people that say "I'd defend my country if I had to." are a dime a dozen, but the amount of people that actually back up what they say and go the distance are a rare breed.

I went in there telling them I wanted to join, so it was easy. I got a 98 on my ASVAB and like a 130 on the General section ( i forget what it was called now )
He actually told me he was glad I came in, cause people with those scores never just walk right in and say sign me up.
The only thing I had to hassle them about was my $3000 sign up bonus. By I basically told them a few weeks before I left, no bonus, then I dont go.
They got it done.
