I entertained going into the Airforce as an officer, but we only had an Enlisted rep in town. Claimed he was going to help me and show me to an Officer recruiter, but to make my first visit go smoothly, I could do some of the same pre-entrance tests and paperwork that Enlistees did (To give the recruiter a better idea of my case). I did everything the recruiter asked, but eventially I started wondering why it had taken 2 weeks and I hadn't gotten the promised Officer recruiter call yet. One day he said "Hey, let's get a physical assesment done so you have everything squared away"

So I replied, "Isn't the physical when you swear in?"
"Yeah, but don't worry, it doesn't mean anything"
"So, basically, I would be enlisting?"
"Kinda, but you wouldn't be stuck until you actually leave for boot camp. You can leave for any old reason..."

I took my papers and left his office. I don't need to be tricked into serving my country.

And the day after I left his office, I finally got a call from an officer recruiter h: I told him my poor experience and that I would have to reevaluate my service in this poor light. Someday I may serve, especially if a draft rolls around, but that left a sour taste in my mouth...
