Was I wrong? <bad experience at Eckerd earlier>
I stopped by Eckerd earlier since it was next door to the theatres I was meeting some friends at to watch Fantastic 4. I got there a little early so I decided to make a stop and pick up some shaving cream/shampoo since I was running low. Any who, I get to the register and hand the lady my items. Comes up to $2.50 so I just reach in my wallet and use cash since I just got change from dinner. I hand her 3 $1 and one of them was missing about 15% of the dollar as if it got torn off. She was like:
Her: Enh eh, this ain't gone work.
Me: What do you mean, it's a dollar isn't it? I just got that from Taco Bell as part of my change.
Her:
Nope, ain't gone work.
Me: (hands her another dollar from my wallet and take back the one that ain't gone work)
After that, she reaches to give me back my change (50 cents).
I take it and throw it back on the counter..
Me: Nah you keep it. (walks out of store while she looks at me speechless)
I swear they hire the most ghetto fab people around here. No customer service skills whatsoever.
My ex worked at a bank and she told me before that its acceptable as long as you can see the face on the bill, one whole serial #, and at least half of the other.

From what I've heard, legal tender is still acceptable as long as there is still 51% of it. Technically I'm not sure they have a legal right to refuse it, but it is just a dollar so I doubt any legal issues would arise as a result.

h:Yeah I know what you mean. Handling something in a nice tone can make the world of difference. They used to teach me something when I worked retail...kill em with kindness.
