I say go for it. There's nothing wrong with getting one for your gf. I got my gf a ring that could be considered a promise ring last year for her b-day. I never called it a promise ring though since it was a b-day present as well as the fact that diamonds are the stone for april and she was born in april. If you're gonna get a ring, that is a nice one.

promise ring is dumb in my mind. if you are in a relationship that is secure enough then you don't need a promise ring (which is pretty much meaningless). yeah i know a few people that gave promise rings to their gf, mainly because it was demanded by the gf. i've never given one and I've been with my gf for 10 years.

How do you think she will take it? It sounds like you have been together for awhile so it shouldn't scare her away.

well the thing is alot of our friends are getting married or engaged
me an her chose to wait until school is done and we have good jobs but she is still a little unsure if i will ask her
so i thought id do this for her
and regardless, she should love more stuff from me since i dont buy her many things
