USGP drama!
Speed Channel is covering it. There is a major issue with the Michelin tires. The company has apparently deemed the tires unsafe to drive on, thus disallowing the 7 Michelin teams to run the race. Michelin and 9 teams (excluding only Ferrari) asked the FIA twice to add a chicane in turn 13 to slow the speeds but were denied.
As of now I don't know what's going on!
edit: all the teams are on the starting grid, so they race should go on...

It's on Speed TV right now.
Two different Michelin teams had tire failures in turn 13 during practice.
Michelin hasn't been able to figure out why the tires failed and is suggesting its teams run higher pressure to slow down the cars. But that could cause a failure if the tire loses heat like if the car runs behind a pace car on a yellow lap.
All of the Michelin teams have joined together in saying they will not run the race unless a chicane is added to the track before turn 13. But it's impossible to add a chicane to a track in this short of a timeframe. It's not that the FIA could add the chicane but they just won't do it, they can't do it. Bridgestone teams (mainly Ferrari) have suggested "just driving slow" through 13 instead of insisting on a chicane that there is no way of building one in time.
Michelin is flying different tires in, but if teams make the switch they'll be breaching FIA regulations. The FIA would then have to decide to penalize the Michelin teams or not. But if the teams are allowed to switch tires "in the interest of safety" then that sets a precedent of allowing teams to test with one kind of tire and race with another if testing doesn't go how they would like.
Right now the Michelin teams are saying they're going to start the race to honor their contracts and then pull into the pits and out of the race after one lap because they feel it's unsafe.
