i think the engagement "feel" of vtec can vary... leading you to believe its happening at different times.

Oil pressure and RPMS are usually directly related. I think the tach works off of oil presure, in fact.

Well, I think my oil problem is solved, if that matters

I am pretty sure it used to engage a little over 5000, now it engages a little below 5000, and it'll change sometimes. Is the tach signal for the ECU the same as for the gauge?

:eh: I wasn't talking about oil pressure. I was talking about the tach signal. Because if the guage seems to be accurate but the VTEC point is varying maybe it has something to do with the ECU's tach signal, if it is a different one, which it probably isn't. :dunno: But if the ECU's signal was not accurate thent the tachometer would probably read a varying fuel cut off too which it doesn't so it must be something else.
