MTV stands for music to vomit

no, I actually like mtv. there was a period where I didnt watch any of it at all. but now I watch it every now and then for laughs.

 

the last time i watched MTV was when they played videos all day long with exception to Beavis and Butthead- that was what- 7-8 year ago now? I bet in a 24 hour span they might play 30 minutes of music now- i see it on the guide channel and it's all 30 minute shows now- pathetic

that and if they can't give TOOL props just because they aren't media friendly, they can go fu(k themselves

The food network & Cartoon network are the only good ones on. READ A BOOK or atleast an instruction manual.

 

mtv provides too much to the pop world and the ghey-ass-rock world.

and they censor video's in the strangest fashion.....they censor the werd BITCH out of just about ALL HIP HOP videos, but then P!NK sayz her nurse (or whatever) is a BITCH...kinda ironic heh? then way back in the early days, the WOULDNT SHOW A VIDEO AT ALL cuz it had to many references to actual companies (coca cola budweiser etc) which violates thier "no advertisement of companies" (or something like that) policy, BUT you got people (mostly hip hop) rapping abou CRYSTA'L and MERCEDES, 310 MOTORSPORTS, kinda ironic, heh? also i think mtv is scared to play videos uncensored (not completely uncensored, but just the REAL cuss werds...fucc, shiit, etc) for fear the "pop fans" might not watcvh them, or some sht like that, cuz they said HOOCHIE, or WEIGHT, or DAMN, or ASS. but the "pop"/"rock" genre can say some of these werds.

even mtv2 is the same way, and mtv isnt a basic cable channel yet. also, i think a few weeks ago i witnessed the beginning of the end of mtv2....they played "making the video"...i thought it was music, 24 hours a day?

 

i think most(very key word, MOST, not all) people are just oversensitive, and dont want to take responsibility. parents need to take responsibitity as well. cause the kids want to wear something doesnt mean that the parents have to let them. if your 12 year old daughter goes out the house half naked, is that mtv's fault or yours?

 

Censored versions of videos/songs are provided to MTV by the record label, they don't censor them themselves. It is up to the label to determine what will be censored.

Hip hop labels censor more so they will sell more CDs to kids.

 

mtv is good for entertainment to laugh at... sometimes i watch it to see what kind of crap they're playing... i like watching the VMAs to see how much further the stars will go to be almost nude..

it's not MTV's responsibility to watch out for what youth of america wears.. it is a parents responsibility and the stars.. stars know people look up to them.. it is their choice what they wear.. and if that is a lil too showy.. parents have to talk to their kids..

 

What do you expect? If she came out of full Victorian garb people would still complain, if she dressed in conservative clothing people would probably still have something to say, or worse, not care. They push as far as they can so everybody talks about them. They end up all over magazines and sell a few thousand more records. Remeber that green dress Jenifer Lopez wore somewhere a few years ago. The next day, pictures of her were everywhere and she was the topic of conversation over most of the country. How many albums do you think that helped sell and how many more millions do you think she'd was paid in her next film. It's all a business.

To be perfectly honest, I don't blame MTV or the artists. We as a society are changing. Hell, if someone tried to walk onto American Bandstand or one of those older shows in an outfit like that, there'd be a huge outrage and it probably wouldn't go to air. Now we look forward to what someone's going to wear to the next one. Some probably say were going to hell, I'm personally looking forward to the ride. I personally enjoy looking at a half naked confident and beautiful woman. Then again, maybe victorian dress will come back in style, be an interesting change. Seeya.

 

mtv is crap.
there is nothing good about mtv.

they are the reason music isn't about music anymore. music is more about image than anything else.
