Default Christian Game Reviews

http://www.ccgr.org/default.asp

Is this site a fawking joke or what? Some of the best rated games are rated so poorly like GTA: SA got a 60%, God of War got like 71%. I mean here are some snippets of the God of War review:

APPROPRIATENESS ISSUES:
Violence:

- People killing people in cold blooded murder (-5 pts)
- Blood sprays on the wall and everywhere else (-2.5 pts)
- Gruesome details (-2.5 pts)

Sexual Content:

- Partial Nudity (-4 pts)
- Characters are heard having sex off-screen. (-4 pts)

Cultural/Moral/Ethical

- Poor value decisions are promoted through the game, but not required to progress. (-1.5 pts)

Well, those games don't exactly withstand Christian values, so I don't see why its a big deal.

I wonder what Xenogears would have gotten from them?

Xenosaga got a 62% (F- rating for it's "Appropriate" rating) due to it's unchristianity: http://www.ccgr.org/article_read.asp?id=634

Epoch, I remember you wanting the reviewer to know of the true natures of the Ethos and how it reflects real life groups. I wonder if they ever caught it.

I remember reading a Christian game review of MGS2: Twin Snakes and gave it an extra point for taking an anti-abortion stance. Strange thing is, I never caught an anti-abortion message in it. :dunno:

Wait a sec...

MGS2: Sons of Liberty, ot MGS: The Twin Snakes? You mixed the titles together. (I haven't played MGS:TTS, but I don't remember anything along those lines in the original MGS)

And yeah, the Ethos in Xenogears. The "church" of the world, which is actually used as a tool to control world affairs. The controlling group referred to themselves as the -Abel-, who could use the "sheep" (less developed) people of the world for any use. The -Abel- used the Ethos to direct the affairs of the sheep to prevent them from getting too advanced, which was controlled by artificial wars they coerced the people into. The -Abel- sought to bring the revival of Deus (their god) about so they could live in Paradise. Deus was actually weapon used only to destroy, and could create angelic warriors that forced people to mutate into bioweapons.

The list goes on, and any franatical christian playing that game would have their head as-plode. On the other hand, the game's main spiritual theme is that any form of salvation, regardless of what the salvation is, comes from within. So, there is a positive message as long as you aren't insane

About Xenosaga: I was really amused by the fact that in Xenosaga, they called earth "Jerusalem", and the Nephilim looked like a baby Elly
