My work Mastercard (have in my wallet) has a $1,500,000.00 limit, but a maximum daily transaction of 250,000.00 . Still the highest in my company, even more than the VP's. h:

Yeah I definitely dont want to spend more than my highest.... cause I dont have one.

My personal philosophy is if I cant fund it out of my bank account, I dont need it.

Excluding the house, which is a necessity to finance, however, all the pimp action in the house, paid in full :woowoo:

I feel the same way, but sometimes there are things you need or emergencies where you don't have the cash to cover it at the moment.

I think if credit is used wisly its an effective way to handle large purchases. Also, with out a credit card of some sort, its hard to purchase things in a world where a good credit rating is becoming more and more importent

I agree and disagree. I have never had a credit card, but my credit score is over 800 (barely). I have just used my finances wisely, paid every bill in full every month, and never went past a 35% outgoing to incoming.

Well I agree in most cases, but I think that if something ever did happen, I would go to the bank and get a sig loan or a second mortgage before I got a credit card. Lower APR over a longer period of time, and more flexibility in general.

Aside from assorted fees, credit card companies make money by charging interest on borrowed money.

If you pay off your balance in full at the end of the month, you are effectively borrowing no money from them. If you don't borrow any money from them, they can't charge you any interest, and if they can't charge you any interest then they can't make any money off you aside from the pittance you pay in annual fees or whatever else they might charge you.

So if a person has been paying off their balance every month, not carrying a balance, and not making any money for the credit card company, the credit card company will raise that person's limit to tempt them into perhaps buying enough stuff with the credit card such that they will not be able to pay the balance in full at the end of the month. Then the money borrowing begins, and the credit card company starts charging interest, and once they charge interest, they make money.
