Nope. The only way a PC can come close to that right now is through using lots of normal mapping in indoor environments. That's outdoor environment with insanely high polycount models and unbelievably huge normal and bump mapped textures. It also looks like there's some real time raytracing (!!!) involved, but I'll believe it when I see realtime game play.

i would have to agree. i haven't seen a PC game that looks THAT good. the car models are smooth and perfect - you can't see a hint of a polygon. if they achieve that using bump maps, then your observation about the outdoor lighting seems right on. i won't believe they've accomplished real-time ray tracing until i see it either!

but the screenshots that include people next to cars suggest to me that these are in-game screenshots, and not from FMVs. an FMV would likely have better looking people, higher polygon count for the surrounding environment, etc.

It's cause they're trying to get a jump on Sony, who accounced they'd also have a pre-E3 preview as well.

We haven't even seen that in motion, these are just stills. But it doesn't look any more impressive than Half-Life 2, IMO. Or the new Unreal engine.
