i would have to agree. i haven't seen a PC game that looks THAT good. the car models are smooth and perfect - you can't see a hint of a polygon. if they achieve that using bump maps, then your observation about the outdoor lighting seems right on. i won't believe they've accomplished real-time ray tracing until i see it either!

but the screenshots that include people next to cars suggest to me that these are in-game screenshots, and not from FMVs. an FMV would likely have better looking people, higher polygon count for the surrounding environment, etc.
