kids being stupid put their friend in the hospital, nearly kills him
correction for the horribly stupid mistake i made earlier - someone please correct me if i'm wrong again:
s = 1/2at^2 - or being more explicit, s = (1/2)*a*t^2
where s is the displacement, aka distance traveled. in this case, about 1.44 meters.
a is acceleration, in this case the gravitational constant g = 9.8m/s^2
t is time.
solve for t, and you get about .534 seconds to fall from 1.44 meters (top of the car).
depending on how fast it was going, it's pretty damn reasonable to think that it might take a car longer than half a second to come to a complete stop.
physics is interesting, but it's also my enemy. i did pretty crappily in physics - three excruciating quarters of hell! but i also didn't try AT ALL, so that probably didn't help :exnbp: anyways, once again, if i need to be more clear about it.. this is just proof that this series of events is physically possible.
