It's cause I'm an east coaster.
Here's a tip I learned:
sushi is better when the rice is well tightly packed. Falling apart sushi screams "amateur".
Use the Mexican burrito rolling technique. You need a bamboo sushi roller or just do your best with the nori. Place your ingredients towards one half of the nori, fold the thing over too far up the empty side. Then while "scraping" the folded incredents against the empty side pull down to pack the stuff together. Once packed, finish the roll. Tada! Nice tight sushi roll... which incidently makes cutting a LOT easier.
