Do you ever think that crying would help?

I haven't cried due to physical pain since I was like six, and I can still remember the last time I cried due to emotional pain -- four or five years ago when I got dumped by a girl I loved.
It certainly helped then, but I agree that it's tough for "manly-man" types to be comfortable with crying. It just gets ingrained into us from childhood that real men don't cry. I really don't know how much it would help you out now. :dunno:

I don't see anything wrong with guys crying unless they're a big cry baby.
I think its funny when a guy gets caught crying or something and trys to play it off: "I had something in my eye..."

I rarely to never cry when it comes to things that actually happen to me... Usually the events that are strong enough to cause me to try (People dying, massive disaster, etc) also make me feel like I need to be stable and strong for others, and thus I rarely cry during massive traumas.

But I'm weird in that movies, songs, and good stories can easily make me cry. I'm a total sap for sad movies and my girlfriend is always surprised to find a guy that cries as much as her during movies. And movies and stories can do the same... I think it's a reaction to bottling up all the other extreme negative emotions in my life that, during things like movies where I've deemed it OK to cry, I let loose with all of my bottled emotions.

And to the people who feel like they should cry, but can't: Watch Grave of the Fireflies. Either you'll cry better than you ever have before, or you'l like a complete bastard for being unable to cry... But I've only met one person who didn't cry at that movie

It's like trying to puke after drinking way too much. You just feel better after puking.

I think you cry when you need to cry. If you feel like you need to and can't, would a really sad movie help?

i rarely cry.there are very few movies that i've seen that have made me come close to crying (3 i think). but i'm ptrtty sure i would cry if any of my family died. the last time someone in my family died that i was close to was in 1988, so i don't really know what it's like to lose someone really close. but i'm sure that could do it.
