XP Pro and Home Edition are fine, that's what 90% of the computers out there come with.

well according to that it will be formatted. unless he meant formatted and OS reinstalled. but either way i'd go with new for the warranty and the tech support.

I have copies of XP Pro anyways...
But I'm having my boyfriend look into the new Dells anyways because I can get a SMALL discount through work too I think. And yea, the warranty could help a lot

Not a bad price depending on the LCD. It'll be slow without 512MB of ram though.

I bought the same PC from dell for $449, except it had only 128MB of ram, regular monitor, no printer, but free 2-3 day shipping. I bought a stick of 512MB Kingston ram for $70 online vs: the $200 dell wanted for the memory upgrade. I wish I would of waited for the LCD deal they have now.
