How much slower is DSL than cable?

I have never never liked adelphia...poor customer service, extremely poor "technical support" dare i call it that. I have been waiting for verizon to get their asses moving so i can have an optical connection in my home.
I am already doing away with my Verizon phone service and will discontinue business with then until fios is offered which should be within the next 6-12 months. Until then I will be using Vonage VOIP.
I use to have cable. It was great for the 1st year. Then they were allowed to change the strength their signal was being sent out and it was 1/10th of what it originally was. Then it sucked ass. When it stayed online it was slow, and it would only stay on for 15 minutes, then it would go offline and continue this process all day long. I switched to DSL and it is faster than my cable was and have had no problems with it.
Cable can be faster than DSL, unless you are on a line where many people are using it. Then cable slows down significantly. DSL is sent at a constant speed and no matter how many people have it, you all get that speed.
