Default Exhaust hell

finally took my crappy ass header off today and took it to the muffler shop, so they could weld it together (making 2 piece in to a 1 piece because of horrid leakage). so i get it all welded, bring it home, put it on....

...and what do i hear, another damn exhaust leak.

so i crawl under and start feeling around. when i trace the sound to my cat (cheap ass straight through cat), i see a nice crack all the way around the back end of it. :upset:

so now i have to find a bolt-on cat for less than $100 before friday so i can go to the track.

:hahano:

The same exact thing happened to me today. I replaced my cracked up manifold, and realized I had a hole about the size of a quarter where a hanger welded-on to my Apexi N1 downpipe had broken off. Had to get it welded back on... oh yeah. I mentioned this in another thread already.

Can't you get away with a test pipe on a track?

yeah, i was thinking about just unbolting the damn header from the cat and running straight header, but it would be obnoxiously loud for a 15 second civic... h:

i need to do emissions this month anyways, so i will probably try and find a carsound cat tomorrow.

do they (carsound) even make bolt on cats?

Eh? So? I ran a 17.95@75mph like that with my cx. I lost to a Celica GT-S by only a half second. What a battle of two slow-ass cars.
