Its about as involved as a bio class in college :eh:

and they teach you "this is t-rex and brontosaurus and they're dinosaurs and now they're extinct" and thats it in kindergarten.

no, but a general knowledge of bio is needed.

it's not like super taxing or anything, but we're expected to know all the periods, the basic bone structure, etc, within the first few weeks of class.

Well, they teach math to 1st grade kids but does this mean that all math is 1st grade level? What is so hard to understand here...

What I hate is English classes where people who are otherwise perfectly sociable refuse to say anything. It's like the prof asks for comments, and nobody has anything to say. Granted when this happens the prof is usually asking the type of questions which don't exactly inspire huge great discussions, but the questions are still at the very least able to be answered.

What ends up happening is I look around the room frantically, hoping SOMEONE will say something, and then if no one does then I just pipe up with something because I can't stand the awkward silence. Yeah, I'm that guy. I try my damndest not to say too much but then I still feel like, obligated to say something if nobody at all will step up to the plate.

What's weird though is in the class when this happened the most recently, I was the only one to pipe up for a few questions in a row, and then with less than 10 minutes till the end a whole buncha people started talking and having an actual discussion. I was like, where the hell were you people for the whole rest of the class so I wouldn't have had to make so many answers in a row?

Hm, last English class I had there were some very good discussions. Then again, I had a very good professor that seemed to know his stuff, and knew quite a few writers.
