The big news is that the 4.4-liter 745 is being replaced by a 4.8-liter 750 which makes a bunch more power. In Europe there is a smaller V8 option but BMW figures us 'murricans don't need any smaller engine choices.

I'll bet it's the same engine (4.8L) lifted from the X5 4.8iS.

If that one's Valvetronic, then yes.

What's weird is that while the X5 has the 4.4 and 4.8, in Europe the 7-series currently has a 735i V8 (dunno the exact displacement) and 745i 4.4-liter. Now they're going to a 740i (4.0 liter like 302 hp) and 750i (4.8 liter 360 hp).

they will eventually have a x5 3.0 again (new valvetronic engine).

it's not that odd, europe always got more engine choices than the US.

yeah? BMW only wants to have 2 engine choices for the US. Only the best engines you know :chuckles:
