Some troops are openly opposed to it all but don't go around telling everyone.
I realize that this is an opportunity to save a lot of money. Food, shelter, all the benefits are all here so we pocket almost all of our money, those of us who are single anyway... I may be here as much as 18 months so the way I see it is - $3,000.00 x 18 months = $54,000. :bankin:

Thats alright I supose, like you said you did sign up and must serve whether u agree or not, but atleast you all still have your opinons and arent just following whatever the president says.

Also do you get like a bonus for actaully going there? For actaully being sent to combat? or just the 3k a month?

Well I get 1015.00 every two weeks normally. And I get roughly 500.00 extra for different incentives every two weeks on top of that, or at least that is what I was told. I haven't seen a paycheck or statement yet so I can't confirm that but that is pretty much it.
I should be getting another promotion sometime soon so that will mean a little more money too.

If it comes down to them or me... yeah. I may just have to on the drive north though. We drive north because we can't fly all our vehicles up there, so that might actually be pretty dangerous.

Like they told us the word for halt is Kiff, but it's pronounced like cough... During the first OIF soldiers were going around saying kiff like kif or keef and the people were like :wtf:
well there isn't an arabic word for "halt" but there is for "stop" and it sounds the same as the way you're pronouncing it except with another letter.

يقِف

pronounced "yaqif," the middle letter "qaaw" has a kasra underneath that gives it a short vowel sound like an 'i' like in "kid"

If we get attacked then yeah. They'll have a bad day if I get the chance to defend. I'm usually a driver so I'd probably be too busy hauling ass.

Stay safe, stay vigilant.

Remember that code of conduct, and hope you never have to employ it.

I got out of the military right as this started happening, but I know that if I got called back I would go.

And to whoever was sleeping in tents, guess you should have joined the Air Force...
