I've only snow bladed, never skiied or snowboarded. It's really easy to learn, and you dont have to carry around stupid poles.

ahem.. :squint: if you've never skiied before, how can you call them stupid? those "stupid" poles have helped me keep my balance and saved me from busting my ass countless times.

I don't use poles either when snowblading

I wanted to try snow blades so bad when I was in VT. They look like so much fun.

and i wouldn't expect anyone to. that would look silly. i was referring to using poles while skiing, which i realize some people don't in that case as well. if someone doesn't like using them, that's one thing.. but to call them stupid when they've never even skied? ...

They are. They are amazingly easy to turn and stop. YOu can ski backwards and do all sorts of fun stuff. Plus less equipment to carry too. And you don't look like a fool anymore.

The easiest way I found to carry my skiis was to strap them together using a velcro strap. All those Ski Totes and ski bags are so cumbersome. With the blades you just clip them together and put them over your shoulder.

I've used them on double diamond slopes and choppy ice with no problems. ONe thing I like about them is they are very portable. While other people are struggling with their long skiis, I just strap mine together and toss them over my shoulder.

Other thing I like is sitting on a chair lift they do not weigh so much so it's easier on the joints. Heavy skiis tend to make my knees hurt with chair lifts that do not have a place to rest your feet.
I whole-heartedly disagree. I've done it all, skiied, snow-bladed :eh: and snowboarded. Even when I ski my freeride shorter skis (170's) I find it harder to stop than longer ones. Theres simply more of an edge to bite into the snow.

But we'll agree ti disagree.
