Default How long do car batteries usually last?

My mom's 2000 camry has a dead battery.. its the OEM battery..

She's let it completely drain before by leaving a cd playing while she gardens..

anyways..

We dont know if she should charge it or just get a new one..

My OEM one lasted about 6 years...took 2 altenators with it too

Unless you're getting an OEM on to replace it, take it to AutoZone or Advanced Auto parts and they'll replace it on the spot for you. They'll also take the old battery and you'll get like $10 off the new one.

My OEM lasted 73,208 miles until I decided to buy a new one before I was left stranded. ( Cold starting the car was a bitch ).

autozone is good. you can even have them test the battery to see if it is actually bad or if it just needs to be recharged. but 5 yrs is still pretty good. on my 99 integra, my battery died about 3 months ago
