what car would you buy....
What's so great about a damn 2000 Impreza 2.5RS? It's not like you can mod the thing. You said in your other thread the reason you're getting a "new" car is so that you have something in good condition that won't break down. How is buying some older car for less than 10 grand going to satisfy that reason? I say you should stick to your lease idea and try to get any number of fine, brand new cars which are available under 20 grand. On that list of cars I would put the base RSX, the Civic Si hatch, the Mazda 3s, the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, and the Scion tC. There's also the '04 Focus SVT if you can still find one, or maybe even a stripped down Mini Cooper S. If you're feeling kinda wacky and want something with all wheel drive, how about a freakin Suzuki Aerio? (only half kidding here)
While these here choices may not exactly be pinnacles of driving excitement, they are all at the very least semi sporty and will also provide reliable transportation at a price--when leased--that your folks can swallow.
