Default When using DVDshrink

How long does it often take you to copy a DVD start to finish?

I snagged my dad's first season of Star Trek: TOS and it's estimating 50 minutes just for the ripping part of one disc. :/

Well you are not just burning it. You need to shrink it, compressing 9gigabytes of data into 4.5 gigs takes a little time. That's how long full dvd's usually take (ie. boxset dvds). New movies will usually take 30 mins to compress and older movies on dvd will be about 10 minutes, since they don't have as much footage, like extras.

also take into account the speed of your cpu... what takes one person 30mins to do might take another person 150mins.

Yea I need dual layered media along with a burner. I wanna get backups of non-compressed video.

I guess I should say I can burn dual layer (in a year when it's at a reasonable price)

For now I'll have to stick with shrinking. It's ok though, I'm not usually a whore for uber quality since my TV is small and I have no HD in here. Just need the sound to not suck. That's all I ask. haha

Actually when they say they compress it about 50%, it really doesn't look bad, i don't notice a difference really. All I have noticed is in cartoons, like Family Guy, some frames flinch or something like that.

I probably won't notice at all, then I'd expect little imperfections in a show that's almost 40 years old.

I gotta go to the video store now.... :rick:

I'm creating an "offsite backup" of Anchorman as we speak. h: Blockbuster Rewards is awesome, I rented 3 new movies and got 3 old movies for free.

Took like 47 minutes start to finish for me to make a copy of the disc. Quality is pretty awesome too.

Wonder what I should rent.
