math wizards... quick question
ok, so a deck of cards has 4 suits(diamond, heart, spade, club); 13 of each. if you were to randomly pull out 4 cards, what is the percentage that set of 4 cards would have 1 diamond in it?

13/52 * 4 =your answer
hmmm or maybe not
it should be
13/52 * 12/52 * 11/ 52 * 10/52 = your answer since you are assuming you are pulling out a diamond with each card.
I think that is right, it's been a while since I took a stat class.

wouldnt it be 13/52 *13/51 *13/50 *13/49 since you are only looking for 1 diamond?

no it should be 13/52 * 12/51 * 11/50 * 10/49 since you are removing 1 card each time and he is assuming that you are pulling the right card each time.
so combined i think we have the right answer... I think.

Ya i was going my way because i figure if on the first draw he draws a diamond the game would end and so on and so forth for the other turns. so the full 13 would be available until the end. :dunno:
