timmy, it sounds like maybe something was changed in the bios. pull the battery out (it's on the MB, looks like a watch battery), unplug the pc....let it sit for about 5 minutes and put it back in.

30 seconds is sufficient and unplugging the pc is unnecessary

not necessarily.
i've pulled the battery out for a good 2-3 minutes on my box and the pc still retained bios settings.

He couldnt find the thing to clear the CMOS. I think something was damaged when he took that motherboard from one case to another case.

jae, the thing he has to pull out looks like a watch battery. you can't miss it.

Yea i know. I was trying to repair this problem over the phone. He didnt know how to clear the cmos

after unplugging it and pulling the battery, you have to power on the computer to release the current stored in the capicitors.
