yes in a sense, street racing is as deadly as playing tag with a knife, because you are using both potentialy deadly weapons irresponsibly<sp>, but just the same if you were just driving down the road as normal and killed someone or were walking into the kitchen and tripped on a childs toy and stabbed your friend on the way down killing him, both would be considered accidents and not murder, only the motor car accident would get vehicular manslaughter which in the laws eyes isnt as bad of an offense as accidentaly stabbing your friend and killing him.

And therein lies the difference between murder and manslaughter. A murder is an action committed with the intent to kill, and manslaughter is reckless actions that accidentally led to someone's death. In your example, you get hurt because the knife is walked into on accident due to my carelessness with it, not because I was trying to stab you.

IMO, they deserve 15yrs minimum, and to have their driving priviledges permanently revoked. They were responsible for that woman's death, for chrissakes. :a:

no but the other guy was the cause and effect. thats like me asking you for an illegal gun, then shooting someone that same day with the gun, you will still get some sort of time in prison along with me for supplying me with an illegal gun. the other guy did just that, he caused the other guy to perform an illegal operation of his vehicle, thus causing a death.

if i give someone an illegal gun i won't be convicted of the same crime as the person that pulled the trigger

give the other guy wreckless op, drag racing, speeding, etc etc. vehicular manslaughter is bullshit.

i'm not endorsing street racing, just saying if it's going to happen, let it happen out of the way, not on a busier street.
Guess what: Actions have consequences. Adults foresee potentially harmful or deadly consequences, and make an adult decision not to engage in activities that might lead to those consequences. Those two teenaged morons decided to do it anyway, and now, just like adults, they must live with the consequences of their irresponsible, immature decision. They killed another human being. They're lucky they didn't commit this crime in a state where they might now be sitting on death row.

Freak accident my butt. If you're old enough to have a DL, you're old enough to act in a mature manner and to not do things that endanger other people.

That's exactly what I wanted to say. That's perfect!

If people are going to do something stupid, expect to get punished.
